HOSPITAL LOGO PROJECT
For this world renowned hospital I created a series of sculptural mosaics depicting their iconic logo. The mosaics appear in various sizes, ranging from 30” x 30” to 50” x 50”, throughout their numerous Manhattan locations. The challenge for this project was to be true to this very recognizable logo, but to add dimension and really bring it to life. The handmade glass has been silvered to add reflectivity, while the texture has a granite, earth-like quality that evokes the rocky terrain of the actual mountain it represents. As light moves across the shimmery material, it brings to mind images of the sun moving over a mountain range.
